A Yankee in a Southern Kitchen

Boy, can I relate. One of the most exciting things for me about moving to the deep (and I mean deep) south was the food. I had no idea what an adventure I was in for.

We have decided that we want to learn more about southern food because a) a lot of it is stinkin' cheap (grits, anyone?) and b) all of it is stinkin' good. Ok, maybe not all of it. I could go my whole life without ever eating a pickled pigs lips* and die a happy woman, but I digress.

Ummm... Shrimp and Grits

A Yankee in a Southern Kitchen

I am going to spend the next week or so exploring this site. I have a feeling I am going to love it there.

* Yes, they do exist and I can get them at my local grocery store. Along with canned boiled peanuts and Cajun Crawtator Potato Chips. Aren't you jealous?

What a surprise! Your kind words and support are truely appreciated. Have fun learning more about Southern cooking. Good stuff but puts on the weight quick.
